This year, conference planners have added options to stay over on Saturday night and enjoy different opportunities on Sunday, along the Trace. This year, mountain bikers will get a chance to ride on a section of the Trace not often used by bikers.
On Sunday morning, bikers will take off north on the Trace from Flat Rock Church for a 20+ mile ride. The ride will take you down along old streams, across some tight technical sections of the Trace and onto an old Forest Service road that once took rock and trees out of the forest. The return trip lets you stretch your legs over Rt 700 back to Barren Fork Horse Camp.
You will need to wear a helmet and a safety vest or bright bike shirt. There is no charge for going on this ride. So if you are up for some time on the trail and you think you got what it takes to challenge this section of the Trace we hope to see you at the conference. Register for the conference by visiting our webpage www.sheltoweetrace.org and click on the link. If you are just coming for the Sunday ride, you will need to be at Flat Rock Church on U.S. 27 near Whitley City by 9 am. Sunday September 30th. Could be one of the last rides of the season. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace.
