Hello,

I'm looking to hike a section of the ST starting labor day weekend and going about 8-10 days. How is the NT looking these days? I'm planning to start at the NT or ST and just go as far as I can. Is it worth it to start at the true NT or down at the lake?

Any input on trail conditions is appreciated.

Thanks!
Brad

Trail crew has worked diligently to make the north end all the way to Clear Creek past Cave run open and a worthy part of the ST experience. I would recommend you start at NT and head south. 10 days you should be able to get to Natural Bridge or further.

You most likely will still encounter some places where conditions have changed with past weather but it will be nothing severe.

We have reports from recent users that north out of Pickett is rough. Overgrown in many places.

Hello bcombs,

I read your post and was wondering if you were able to get out and hike your Labor Day backpacking plans? I will be going out the last weekend of this month only for two days. Any advise? I understand that if you start at the NT and head sobo into Morehead, there is a 8-10 mile stretch of road walking. I would like to get off trail at this point and shuttle to the US 60 trailhead and then into Cave Run Lake. Do you know of any shuttle services in the area? How were the trail conditions.

Thank you in advance.

Yvonne,
We have volunteers in the Morehead area that might be available to transport you around from U.S. 32 trailhead to the U.S. 60 Spurlock trailhead. Can you email me directly with a phone number.
