Mapping the Sheltowee

hi,

I just signed up. Enjoy doing some less traveled trails and am asking if anybody could join me for about half the Sheltowee Trace in the fall ?

I've done several week long sections on the AT as well as the Pinhoti here in Alabama, but would like to see the less traveled path in different places. Able to walk 12-20 miles per day but would depend on "the other partner" to plan exactly where to start and end with car pool, shuttles and food drops, etc.

Welcome Ed to the forum I would love to if I had the time off. But I'm sure you will find someone to go out with you. Where you planning on starting North or South end? I might beable to get out and go a few days. If you need a shuttle or anything else contact traildust on here ( Steve Barbour). He has contacts for shuttles or assists from start to end on the trail. Also he has Sheltowee trace thru hiker manuals they are a must they have everything form food drop contacts, water sources, camping areas, post offices, and very detailed directions. You can also get them from here as well http://www.sheltoweetrace.org/Trading_Post.html There is also a facebook page as well for the Sheltowee Trace with updates on trail conditions and events going on. With over 300 members to answer any questions or maybe to join you as well. We have a very nice trail with alot of really good sights, hope to see you out on the trail.

I'll second Tank's comments, Ed. Contact Traildust and plan your hike. If you are in the Natural Bridge to Cave Run Dam (Stoney Cove) section, we can provide shuttle and maybe a few days on the trail with you. November begins gun season for deer hunting so check the Ky. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife for actual dates and display hunter orange as you hike.

Ed,

I am originally from Alabama and would be able to do a couple of day hikes with you. Because of my work schedule I never know when I am off or if it is going to be two days in a row or if its going to be a weekend or a weekday. I am a cooler weather hiker so November and December is usually when I start to get out and about.

I am also thinking of going in oct but only 60 miles or so, also only care to do 10 miles a day or so, let me know what you decide
