Also this time of year the young black bear males that are chased out of their mothers areas. Then in return adult black bear males chase them out of their area's as well so they are forced to find a place of their own. June and July are the top time for sighting these young males looking for new homes.(2 to 3 Year olds) These can also be dangerous times due to these bears are looking for food as well. Always be bear aware and prepared. _________________ Thanks to the interstate highway system,

I know their was a bear incident over the 4th of July weekend, at the gorge after talking to some rangers while out hiking. A bear had tore into a tent to get food, fortunatly no one was in or around the tent. Since this is against the law, I'm sure whoever reported also was ticketed as well. _________________ Thanks to the interstate highway system,

There was a similar incident on the AT recently. Someone left food in a tent at the Bear Fence shelter and the bear helped himself. There was a person in a tent next to the one the bear tore up.
It is this kind of behavior by people that will get the bears killed. |

I agree jbd people need to educate themselves before they go out and follow the rules. If they would do what was asked of them things like this wouldn't happen. The rules and procedures are posted to follow not look at and say this will not happen to me. Due to the people who do not follow the rules bears and people both have to suffer. _________________ Thanks to the interstate highway system,
