A friend and I are looking for about a 30 mile stretch to hike. It would be great if someone could reccomend something. We are preping for an upcoming trip on the AT in September where we are going to do a little over 70 miles.

Welcome wright975,

Here are three 30-mile hikes in the southern section that I like. They each have well-developed US forest or park trailheads:

1) Pickett to Yamacraw Bridge. Great trip along Rock Creek. Will have about a 4-mile gravel park road walk and then a ford on the lower Rock Cr.

2) Yamacraw to Cumberland Falls. Well, you pass the tallest and then the biggest waterfalls in Kentucky. Trail is not well signed around US 27.

3) Cumberland Falls to Bee Rock campground. Bee Rock is just west of the ST and you connect with Cane Creek Trail. Beautiful stretch of the Cumberland Below the falls and Laurel Lake has a cold lake and a high dam.

Boyd
