The Sheltowee Trace Association (STA) and the Morehead Tourism Commission are announcing their intent to open a regional office for the Sheltowee Trace Association in the Morehead Conference Center. This collaboration between the two organizations will play a vital role in the final development stages of the Trail Town Initiative. Plans call for the Sheltowee Trace Association to open its doors in the Morehead Conference Center by the first of the year if not sooner.

With the STA's presence in Morehead, outdoor adventure enthusiasts will have the opportunity to interact directly with STA personnel, discuss opportunities to access the Trace in and around, receive training in outdoor skills and volunteer to assist in keeping the Trace open and accessible to all users.

Sheltowee Trace Association Executive Director Steve Barbour says, “We are thrilled with the opportunity Morehead Tourism has offered us with this agreement. As the only major town the Sheltowee Trail passes directly through, and with the large student population, Morehead is in a prime location for the STA to broaden our volunteer base in the northern end of the Cumberland Ranger District. This will be the first of our planned regional offices along the 307-mile National Recreation Trail.”

Morehead Tourism Commission Executive Director Joy Brown said, “We look forward to expanding our collaborative work with the STA and believe strongly that this relationship with STA will benefit our community as we move forward with our Trail Town Initiative and position ourselves for future growth in Adventure Tourism. This is just another part of growing our team to encourage visitors to Morehead."
