Does anyone know how many shelters there are and how spread out they are or their locations? Also is there a Guide book other than Johnny Molloy's?

Peace

There is a shelter at 36*44.800N, 084*32.573W, north of Yamacraw but south of Yahoo Falls, about 50 yards off the trail, on the river side. That's the only one I've seen but I've only done about 20% of the trail, on the south end.

There are two more shelters between Cumberland Falls and the Mouth of Laurel.

The shelters are good to hang out in and I have slept in them but the mice are thick and they are brave.

You must have the attitude that the lowly field mouse is our friend. If he wants a little crumb here and there let him have it. Smile

Yes I am the same one.

Thx for the info. I am planning on hiking the Sheltowwe some time in late winter or early Spring depending on the water levels.

Peace

So is anyone working to add shelters and privies to the trail? On the interactive map it seems there might be water at the 9 mile mark - walking south from 377 North Terminus. The trail also seems wide enough and passable enough to get shelter materials in there. If no shelter then maybe a designated camping area with water and privy.
