Is there anywhere along the trace with a post office close by? I think I remember seeing the Heidelburg post office being close, but are there any others? Im considering resupplying via maildrops so I can make better food at home and mail it rather than scrounging together food from wal mart.
2 maildrops would be ideal. _________________ KYkamper- leaving your mark is overated |

Close by meaning you walk less than a mile? No not really. At this point we do not have any post offices for mail drops. We do have volunteers, members of the STA who will accept a mail drop and bring it to you on the Trace in several locations. Just let me know when you are leaving and how we can help. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace. |

There is a resupply location approximately 1.9 miles off the halfway point on the trail, but I have not yet used it.
I called the post office in McKee and was answered by a very polite employee. The woman I talked too was familiar with the trail and said it was in fact a supply drop location used by many thru-hikers. She gave me instructions to write on the package the following information:
-Resupply box for Sheltowee Trace thru-hiker.
-Please hold onto package until I pick up around mm/dd/yyyy.
The employee did not mention how long they are willing to hold on the package, but I know that USPS usually sends back mail after 30 days.
I got two similar, but different locations to the Post Office. Here is the link.

Better to send to our contact and board member in McKee, Paul Rose who can bring the package to you on the trail, meet you at the crossing and bring you into town if you want.
