The STA continues to work with the Forest Service to harden the Trace between S-Tree and Turkeyfoot. The next workday is Saturday, July 27th. We meet at the day parking lot on the right as you enter the camp. There are piles of concrete block stacked there. Dress for the weather, bring gloves, water and a snack. We meet at 9:30, work til 3:00 or until we get a section done if earlier. The more help we have the more we can get done. If you have questions please ask or contact director@sheltoweetrace.org.

Just finished section 6 of the Hiker Challenge which was made all the more difficult with the multiple mudholes on the Trace between S-Tree and Turkeyfoot. If you hike this section you have seen the stacks and stacks of block we need to get down to eliminate some of the issues with mudholes. Are you available to help us at the end of July?

we have asked the Forest Service to get a dozier down there and do some leveling and grading so we can have some immediate relief.

Here is a little report on Trail conditions in the National Forest. Further evidence that if we want the trails open and accessible we need to volunteer to keep them that way.

Note: STA offers free membership or free renewal to those volunteers who give 40 hours of trail maintenance (not counting drive time to the trail). To volunteer just email director@sheltoweetrace.org. You can join a trail maintenance team, work individually, adopt a section.
