Try Backpacking At Carter Caves State Resort Park on March 23-24! Got The Winter Blues? This Is The Perfect Cure For Spring Fever! This trip is an easy, one night, backpacking trip for first time backpackers. It includes six workshops on backpacking essentials that every backpacker should know. This trip is designed for those with little or no backpacking experience who have always wanted to try backpacking under guidance of expert backpackers. There is a fee of $60 and it includes all workshops, Saturday dinner and smores around a campfire. Rental backpacking gear available.

The beautiful setting of Carter Caves State Resort Park is the ideal setting for this adventure. Nestled in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Carter Caves is 2,000 acres of wooded hills rich in plants, animals and geologic formations both above and below ground. Carter Caves is home to over 30 miles of hiking trails and over a dozen caves.

This trip is lead by expert guide Andy Niekamp of Outdoor Adventure Connection. Andy has over 12,000 miles of backpacking experience including three end-to-end hikes of the entire Appalachian Trail. Andy has also hiked the Kentucky's Sheltowee Trace, Ohio's Buckeye Trail, Vermont's Long Trail and many others trails. Last year Andy received over 100 hours of wilderness first aid training. Andy has a passion for hiking which he shares with others. His first visit to Carter Caves was when he was a young boy. He has been returning regularly to enjoy the park and volunteer when needed.
