Does anyone know the reasoning why the ST leaves Forest Road 977 so many times for a short distance and then returns to it? The forest road is wide, level and eay to follow. But the ST leaves it for as short as 1/8 mile. I learned the drill well ... Hike on the enjoyable forest road, follow trail into woods, hike through weeds waist high, get scratched, get ticks on you, break spider webs, return to forest road, pull off ticks and spider webs and continue on same forest road you just left. Repeat 5 times. Finish the stretch on the same forest road forest road you started on. I felt like it was a Simon Says game. _________________ AT 8,400 Miler |

Blue,
Originally the Sheltowee Trace was in the woods for most of this distance. Then with logging operations things got messed up and then folks started walking the road when the trail wasn't cleared then it got reblazed on and off the road. It is on the list of items we are working with Cumberland District. Some of this will be cleared up when we get the reroute approved and you leave the Sheltowee Trace where it now intersects the Eagle Lake Trail and you walk down to Morehead and down Main Street through town.
