I made it over to Morehead yesterday(March 9th) and worked on cutting out the big tree that is blocking the trail. The trunk on the lower side of the trail is almost completely cut through and I think 15 to 20 minutes with the saw will finish it. On the upper side of the trail the trunk is cut a little more than half way through. Once I get rid of the binding issue I should be able to finish that off in an hour.

Once too tired to chop on the tree, I walked towards the Eagle Trail for about 20 minutes and then turned back towards the tree and worked on clearing and marking the trail and getting it back on the original trail bed.

I had hoped that I would be rested enough to work on the tree some more but it was getting late and I needed to head for home.

Based on recent work and reports from recent hikers the Sheltowee Trace from the NT to Morehead (KY 32) is reasonably clear and well marked at this time. Hopefully with your help we can keep it that way.
