Please make a note on your trail guides and maps, because of the extensive flooding this past spring and summer, the Sheltowee Trace as it ran along the river has disappeared, caved in to the river. The State Park has rerouted the Sheltowee Trace onto Trail 7 and blocked the access.
Please do not remove the blockage thinking you are doing us a favor. The trail is dangerous in this section and you should reroute your journey up Trail 7 which is clearly marked with "turtle" blazes.
Thanks for your cooperation. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace. Sign up and join the discussion. Become a member of The Sheltowee Trace Association and help us maintain and grow the Trace. |

I was planning a hike from the mouth of the Laurel down to Cumberland Falls this weekend. Is this the section of the trail that you're referring to?
Thanks! |

ramblinman,.
yes. Come on. you will be fine heading south. The reroute is well marked. We will also have a crew out on this section this Saturday doing trail clearing and maintenance. Hope to see you out there. We have chainsaw team moving out at 9:00 from Laurel Dam so you might want to leave after we get going. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace. Thanks for the info. We're actually heading down tomorrow night and plan to be on the trail from Thursday until Saturday. Do you have any information about transportation from Cumberland Falls back to our car up at the dam or mouth of the river on Saturday? Any help is appreciated! |

Ramblin Man,
Glad you all had a good time in and around the Falls. Thanks for visiting our trail and our parks. Hope you will come back again real soon.
