Looking to hike about 80-100 miles and would like to be in the most remote and ideally the most scenic area of the trail. We are experienced so difficulty is not an issue. Likely a late April or early May timeframe. Is there an area you would recommend? |

You have two options. The northern portion between Cave Run Lake and the Rd River Gorge. You can certainly get 100 miles using side trails that loop back to the ST. Most folks would say the Red River Gorge is one the most scenic and cherished areas in the Daniel Boone.
The southern option includes mostly the Big South Fork south of US27 and a few possibilities for connecting loops. In terms of scenery, I think Big South Fork river valley is better, but there is the legacy of coal mining that must be considered. _________________ Help map trails by submitting your waypoints and trail photos. |
