Met a group of mtbr's at the Laurel Dam Tuesday for our annual New Years Day Ride. I think this was my 20th consecutive year doing this. I'm no longer even sure why I go, or how I really got started. (It's much like going to work .) Troy Hearn (Ky Tourism Bike Dude) brought down about a half dozen from central Ky. I think Troy has about 15 years of this in too. It was wet and around 40 degrees at ride time. Think that affected out attendance for sure.
Let me go ahead and post the first STA event of 2014; 1/1/2014 10:00am mtb ride @ the Lake Trail. Rain, shine, or snow. Whatever!
Let me get started with my nomination for 2013 volunteer of the year too; whoever has been working at the lake. The big deadfalls are gone, and someone has started making crossings over the big logs that have been cut out. So, for a mtbr there will be an easy route, and a challenging route. Since it was super slick already, I did'nt feel the urge to try a log crossing on Tuesday, but normally mtbrs are drawn to this stuff like moths to a flame. I can see myself wrecking on all of them .
Major props to whomever this is doing the work. I'm in the Jackson county phone book; give me a call when you head out again, and I'll try to come along too. |

Sounds like a good idea mate. The most important thing for us is a way that keeps everything in a decent manner.
When its about getting a right way out that stays fine mostly which is the way for it. |
