Looking for advice on a weekend 3-day hike begining at the Northern Terminus and ending in Morehead. Plan on leaving a vehicle in Morehead for our return to NT to pick up our other vehicle. Any advice on parking at either end would be great as well as trail advice. Thanks a ton! |

There is water from a spigot at Dry Branch Rd which is about 9 miles from the NT. Water can be filtered at Holly Fork Branch which is another roughly two miles further. The hills coming to Morehead are a challenge so plan on traveling slow unless you are in good shape. Currently there is a large tree across the trail roughly one mile from KY 32. Just have to crawl under it right now. I am hoping to have it cleared out of the way in the next 2 or 3 weeks. The trail marking is a little sketchy right there but is visible. If its not cleared before you hike keep looking for the trail to bear to the right off the old road bed you will be walking on.
Camping is where you can find a suitable spot but bear in mind you will on and off private property so it is really important to follow the "Leave No Trace" philosophy of hiking and camping. |

Ok to park at NT parking lot of if you are concerned about safety of vehicle we have a supporting member who lives at Dry Branch area who might be able to let you park at his house and he would shuttle you the five miles to start point.
End parking is really up to you..... lots of shopping center parking on Rt 32 as you pass through the area. The official trail comes down to Rt 32 as you head south, you get to the road and go right - arrow on the concrete wall there.... and you walk down Rt 32 toward the Interstate. You can park on the hill at the Carl Perkins Center which is across Rt 32 up the drive or on further down in one of the stip center - shopping center lots.

That always sounds good when it comes to experiencing something like that because at the end it normally goes like a way which has an impact.
If i see at the moment there is a lot which people are aware of and through sharing it with others it can be even more appreciable. |
