The STA office has received several reports of overgrown trail in this section. Bushwacking required through sticker vines, tall brush. We are aware of this sections continual problems and have plans in the next 14 days to get down and clear this section. The nature of this section being close to the water, open to the sun, rich soil means we battle this area at least twice a year to keep it brushed back. We strongly recommend that if you are planning on hiking this section you wear pants with legs on and long sleeve shirts and maybe carry a pair of hand snips.
Thanks for the reports. We are working the issue. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace. It was passable two weeks ago. A little snug, but passable. The only really overgrown area that I can recall is past Bark Camp Creek about a mile heading north. |

Between Bark Camp Creek and Star Creek Camp was awful! I wish I had shears and a small saw. There are many downed trees and the thorns are starting to close off the path. Other than that, between Laurel Lake and Cumberland falls was phenomenal! |
