Does anyone know of a good source of trail maps or GPS in the Clifty Wilderness? I have only seen the few official trails that are included in the Red River Gorge map. I'm sure there is more to offer in those 13,000 acres.

Thanks, Bump.

I have a map that was printed by the Forest Service that has the Clifty and Beaver Creek Wilderness Areas on it. The trails are marked but not that good. I think these are no longer in print. You might check with the Morehead or Stanton District and see if they have any left. No, it is not for sale.

I think it might be copywrited, but I will find out. I will check with the Stearns District and see if they have any left and will let you know.

There is supposed to be a new map of the RRG and Clifty Wilderness. The one I have is outdated and not accruate according to the FS. I understand they closed the Stanton Office so I would check with Morhead Ranger District. They are working on a new one for Beaver Creek Wilderness.

Thanks, Dradius.

I picked up a copy of Mr. Goodpasters book Hinterlands. It's an awesome reference for the unoficial trails in the RRG. I also picked up a copy of his Mamoth Cave book too. I know it's out of print and Benchmark outfitters had a couple copies so I bought 1, 2 left get'em while they last.

No problem. He is a really nice guy and has done a lot of work writing books on Kentucky. You got lucky getting one of the Mammoth Cave guides Smile

I've hiked Clifty Wilderness and unless I missed something, the only trails that were there were the ones on the "official" maps... the outragis maps do show other stuff like campsites though.
