I found a spork Sunday about halfway between Arvel and Turkey Foot. Email me with a description and I'll drop it in the mail to you.
I did the section between Arvel and McKee Sunday to Monday with an overnight at Turkey Foot. I didn't see a single other person on the trail until late Monday afternoon when I met a man and two small kids on an ATV about 1/2 mile from the trailhead on Elisha Branch Road. I was hoping to go a couple more days and maybe make it to London but my Achilles tendon told me it was time to go home. Bummer.
The section north of Turkey Foot could use a little attention with a chain saw...I spent quite a bit of time going over, under or around downed trees. Maybe when I retire I can be a trail volunteer. |

Thanks for the trail update. We just tonight had a large storm go through this section so I am sure there are more trees down. We have trail crews going out the beginning of April to check trail and then from mid-april to whenever we will be out removing these trees as time and volunteers permit. Always room for volunteers. The www.sheltoweetrace.org site is the first place to check for upcoming volunteer opportunities. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace.
