Hi guys... I'm planning on doing a hike on May 17-20 from the NT to the Clear Creek Rec. Area. Any cool spots to check out along the way? _________________ I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.- Henry David Thoreau |

I find that this section is not really scenic but I like it because much of it has a deep woods/back country solitude feel to it in my opinion. There are some bluffs that provide a scenic view of an arch but if I recall they are a little further south than you will be.
Generally speaking water can be an issue along this section but with all the rain you may have plenty of water sources if you have a purifier. Also the is a water hydrant at Dry Branch Rd that you can use to refill if you need to. Holly Fork is pretty much the last chance to filter water until you get to Morehead. |

drove by the lake on my motorcycle yesterday. stoney cove is completly underwater due to all the recent rain in the area. the trail is inaccessible at this point so i guess unless the water goes down about 20 feet in the next two weeks ill not be doing that part of the trail. _________________ I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.- Henry David Thoreau |

| I don't think the trail has many low spots in that area. You should be alright. |

Stoney Cove should be clear of flood waters by the time you want to hike. Less rain is predicted and the C of E is releasing water to lower the area. _________________ Check us out at sheltoweetrace.twitter.com and on facebook in the hiking groups under The Sheltowee Trace.
